The Songwriters Guild of America (SGA) founded in 1931, is a voluntary songwriter association run by and for songwriters. It is devoted exclusively to providing songwriters with the services and activities they need to succeed in the business of music. The preamble to the SGA constitution charges the board to take such lawful actions as will advance, promote and benefit the profession. Services of SGA cover every aspect of songwriting including the creative, administrative and financial. SGA’s non-profit educational foundation was created to aid and educate writers through university scholarship grants and various Guild programs which are offered at the lowest possible cost. Songwriting workshops are taught by leading professional writers in New York, Nashville, and Los Angeles. Classes run for varying lengths and are offered on different levels for beginning or more advanced writers. Song Critique sessions are conducted regularly presenting members with the opportunity to play their songs and receive constructive criticism from peers and professionals. Knoxville Songwriters Association. The Knoxville Songwriters Association was established in 1983 by Sarah Williams. They are a non-profit organization serving the needs of the songwriting community in Knoxville, TN. Please see their website for contact and workshop information. Website

East Tennessee Singer-Songwriter Association. The East Tennessee Singer Songwriters Association strives to educate, elevate and celebrate the songwriter in the craft of songwriting and the art of performing original songs. The ETSSA missions are to support members of all skill levels and genres; to help each other master the art of musical expression and become more skilled in the craft of songwriting and the art of performing; to promote public support and appreciation of songwriters and songwriting in general; and to contribute to East Tennessee’s reputation as a center of musical creativity. Memphis Songwriters Association (MSA) has served the Memphis music and songwriting community for 30 years. The group hosts two meetings per month, including an open mic and a regular meeting. Tennessee Songwriters Association International. This year TSAI is celebrating our 30th year as a non profit organization, dedicated to informing, training, assisting and promoting songwriters. TSAI meets locally with our membership throughout the states and internationally. Our motto is ‘Say It With Music’! TSAI meets weekly and offers a wealth of services for our members. We specifically address needs and concerns with workshops, a monthly newsletter, song critiques, Pitch-a-Pro nights, Pro-Rap with Guest Speakers, music showcases, an annual awards banquet and Symposium, along with support and encouragement for all members. Global Songwriters Connection. President: Sheree’ Spoltore’. Global Songwriters Connection was developed to help songwriters develop in their careers. Our organization offers seminars, song evaluations,career mentoring, direct pitch to publisher events, as well as affordable memberships for songwriters in all genres, from Hip Hop to Country, to equip them to succeed in their music career. Training is provided on topics such as how to copyright music, sample music publishing agreements, how to earn income as an indie artist, just to name a few. The founder of this organization is responsible for facilitating over a hundred publishing deals and several major label deals in Nashville and beyond.
